Video-Conferences

Video-conferences provide opportunity for holding a meeting of two or more distant participants and it is used in all areas as simple and cost-effective way of communication. Transmission of high-quality sound and image in real time is performed by means of videoconferencing system and links with high throughput. If videoconference terminal (the end-device of video-conference system) has ability to share contents, participant may, in addition to image and sound shating, share contents from his/her computer such as presentations, displaying desktop environment, etc.

This way of communication has high potential in the field of education and science, which is being recognized by more and more professors, students and researchers. For example, it is possible that professors from other universities organize a lecture, and students who are not able to attend the lecture can hear it at home, it is possible to hold meetings of colleagues participating in common projects all over the world, etc.

The service of video-conferencing is enabled by AMRES users who have video-conferencing equipment which includes the following as minimum: video-conferencing terminal, speakers, microphone and projector (or display). AMRES offers consultative aid during installation and use of video-conferencing equipment to its users. Application for support should be sent to helpdesk@amres.ac.rs.

In order to support development and use of video-conferencing service within AMRES users, AMRES provides services as follows:

  • Establishing a video-conference by using GDS numerations which are similar to phone numbers and in this way closer to end-users. To this effect, AMRES assigns GDS numbers and offers the service of registration of AMRES user terminal to AMRES Gatekeeper device.
  • In cooperation with RCUB, the service of holding Multipoint video-conferences, within which streaming of video-conference is possible.
