VPN Service

VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology enables secure connection for users who are at remote location (at home, abroad, etc.) with the network of their institution by using already existing network infrastructure, such as the Internet.

Data transferred in original form via any public network is unprotected and therefore there is threat of eavesdropping of confidential data by unauthorized persons. Also, unprotected communication makes insertion of false packages and modification of existing contents possible.

Use of VPN technology enables safe communication via insecure networks, such as the Internet, by provision of three key elements of security:

  • Authentication – only checked (authenticated) users have access to protected network,
  • Data confidentiality – implementation of encryption enables protection of message contents, which makes information useless for potential attacker or someone else for whom the message is not intended,
  • Data integrity – guarantees that original contents of the message are not modified on its path to its destination.
